If nobody comes to your shows, then it's modern dance. If everybody comes to your shows and no one likes it, is that ballet? I don't know. Mark Morris (American dancer and choreographer)

MOMIX presents works that combine acrobatics, dance, gymnastics, mime, props, and film in a theatrical setting

This week marks one year of ArtBong posts. It's really exciting to know I've managed to last this long. When I first started, I had grand ideas of what I was going to do with this blog, and what I would accomplish. To some degree, I still have the same ideals, some new ones, and perhaps a bit more realistic about this internet presence.
Let's talk about MOMIX.
An offshoot of the dance company Pilobolus, MOMIX is internationally recognized for it's dance, illusion, brilliant visual acrobatics, gymnastics, mimes, and props, performed by its exceptional dancers.
TITAS, (Texas International Theatric Arts Society) brings live arts entertainment to Dallas, Texas and through this organization I've seen the two companies over the years and mesmerized by both. Moses Pendleton, co-founder of the former and artistic director of the latter has been dancing and choreographing for over 47 years, an impressive career for the dance world. He describes it as a kind of visual physical theater.
The company is known for its stunning visual effects, employing lighting design, sets and costumes to turn the human body into something otherworldly, subtle, but dazzling. Impossible to describe to anyone who's never seen them in action.

MOMIX has more in common with Cirque du Soleil than a modern ballet or dance, which explains the popularity of the company. - Metro Times

  1. Wow, this looks so interesting. It reminds me of Cirque du Soleil. I didn't know we had this. Someone's doing a poor job of marketing because I've never heard of them- no billboard, nothing. I'd love to see their shows.

    Happy blogversary!
